Purdue Pharma Inc., et al<\/strong>\n<strong>Nova Scotia Supreme Court File: Hfx No. 285995<\/strong>\n\nOn September 23, 2022, the Honourable Chief Justice Popescul of the Saskatchewan Court of King\u2019s Bench released his written decision approving the OxyContin\u00ae and OxyNEO\u00ae National Settlement Agreement as being fair, reasonable and in the best interest of Class Members.\n\nThe settlement provides for a total settlement payment of $20 million (CDN), $2 million of which is designated for provincial health insurers. A total of $18 million, minus court approved legal fees and disbursements, the costs of notice and claims administration, and applicable taxes, will be distributed to eligible class members. Please see the Settlement Approval Notice listed under the title Documents on the right side of this webpage.\n\nThe settlement applies to all persons in Canada, including their estates and provincial health insurers, who at any time between January 1, 1996 and February 28, 2017 inclusive, were prescribed in Canada and ingested OxyContin\u00ae tablets and\/or OxyNEO\u00ae tablets, manufactured, marketed or sold in Canada by one or more of the Defendants. Under the settlement agreement, there is also a designated Family Class in which family members of a class member may be eligible for compensation.\n\nThe Claims Administrator, Verita (formerly RicePoint), is responsible for reviewing claims.\n\nThe claims review process\u00a0for the <strong>OxyContin\u00ae and OxyNEO\u00ae Class Action Settlement <\/strong>is almost complete.\u00a0 If you submitted a claim, please be advised that the\u00a0<strong>Deficiency Period<\/strong>\u00a0for correcting incomplete claims will be opening soon.\n\n<strong>What This Means for You:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n \t<li>If your claim is found to have missing information or technical deficiencies, you will receive a notice from the Claims Administrator, Verita.<\/li>\n \t<li>This notice will outline the specific issues with your claim submission and provide instructions on how to correct them.<\/li>\n \t<li>You will be given a\u00a0<strong>limited period<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>of 60 days<\/strong>\u00a0to address and correct any deficiencies to be eligible for compensation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<strong>What You Should Do Now:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n \t<li><strong>Check your email and mail regularly <\/strong>for any communication from Verita.<\/li>\n \t<li><strong>Prepare any necessary documentation <\/strong>that may support your claim. This includes obtaining all medical and pharmacy records for the three years before you were first prescribed OxyContin\u00ae and\/or OxyNEO\u00ae through to the end of your Period of Addiction.\u00a0 If some or all of the records are unavailable, you must submit an affidavit sworn or affirmed by you that describes your use of OxyContin\u00ae and\/or OxyNEO\u00ae for the timeframe that is not supported by records and that contains, as exhibits, true copies of the record requests that were made and the responses received by the Class Member.<\/li>\n \t<li><strong>Respond promptly <\/strong>once you receive a deficiency notice to avoid missing the deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\nWe encourage all Class Members to stay informed and proactive during this phase.
