Nova Scotia Supreme Court File: Hfx No. 500912<\/h3>\nA Canada-wide settlement in the Dell class action lawsuit has been approved by the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia. A copy of the Settlement Agreement and Settlement Approval Order are available in PDF in the Documents section.\n\nA settlement has been reached and approved by the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia in the Dell Data Theft class action lawsuit. The Class Action sought compensation for data thefts of Dell customer information that resulted in targeted tech support scam calls.\n\nIn approving the settlement on February 27, 2025, the Honourable Justice John A. Keith found that the settlement was fair, reasonable and in the best interest of the Class.\n\nThe settlement applies to the 14,180 Dell customers to whom Dell sent notices of the Data Thefts on April 2, 2018, and January 25, 2019 (the \u201cClass Members\u201d).\n\nUnder the terms of the Settlement, the Defendants will pay CAD $2,100,000.00 to compensate the 14,180 eligible Class Members who received the Dell Notices. This amount also covers legal fees, disbursements, taxes, and an honorarium for the Representative Plaintiff, as approved by the Court. In addition, the Defendants will also cover the third-party costs of administering notice and the settlement.\n\nThe notification process and distribution process will be administered by a third-party claims administrator, Verita Global (formerly RicePoint). Eligible Class Members will automatically receive a Court-approved notice by email from the Settlement Administrator, Verita Global (formerly RicePoint), which includes a link to the Distribution Form. The Distribution Form must be submitted online or postmarked no later than the deadline of July 14, 2025, to receive compensation.\n\nClass Counsel\u2019s legal fees, disbursements and applicable taxes were approved by the Court.
