The NexGen Complete Knee Solution by Zimmer Biomet is one of the most widely used total knee replacements in the world. On December 13, 2022, the Government of Canada released a recall and safety alert advising that the NexGen Complete Knee Solution has significantly higher reversion rates when the NexGen Stemmed Tibial Component is paired with either the LPS Flex or LPS Flex GSF Femoral Components. If a knee implant has a high reversion rate, it means it is more likely to fail and require replacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One peer-reviewed study conducted on the NexGen Complete Knee Solution found that 17 percent of the implants required replacement within five years. In the study, 95 percent of the replacements resulted from the combination of the NexGen Stemmed Tibial Component with LPS Flex Components.
