Wagners Law Firm Halifax Tides FC Partnership

Wagners, one of the Maritimes’ leading personal injury law firms, has recently announced a partnership with Halifax Tides FC, Halifax’s first professional women’s soccer team. The Tides will compete in the Northern Super League, a Canadian Division I professional women’s soccer league scheduled to play its first season in 2025. The NSL has announced Halifax Tides FC as one of the six founding franchises in the league, alongside AFC Toronto and Calgary Wild FC, with other teams planned for Montreal, Ottawa, and Vancouver. The club conducted its official launch on June 13, 2024, with representatives from Wagners in attendance to support the organization.

Entrepreneur Courtney Sherlock and former Canadian women’s national team member Mary Beth Bowie cofounded Halifax Tides FC in partnership with several other businesspeople and entrepreneurs in Nova Scotia, with Sherlock serving as the club’s CEO. The club has entered negotiations with the city of Halifax to play its matches at the Wanderers Grounds.

Overview of the Partnership

Wagners has agreed to become a Gold Launch Event Partner for Halifax Tides FC to celebrate the club’s launch and help it prepare for its inaugural season in 2025. We support the club’s mission to foster an environment that allows its players to flourish and creates a fan-centric community. Through our partnership with the Tides, Wagners will help the club fulfill its goals of ensuring that matchdays become a celebration of the community and sporting excellence. Our firm looks forward to working with the Tides organization to champion women’s sports, empower future female leaders, and provide opportunities for athletes and the community.

Wagners partnered with Halifax Tides FC for its inaugural launch event in June 2024 to celebrate the founding of Nova Scotia’s first professional women’s soccer team. Through our partnership, Wagners will continue to support the Tides’ goals of inspiring future generations by serving as an inspiration to ignite the potential of those in our community.

Benefits for the Community

Halifax Tides FC seeks to positively impact the community by providing a platform for talented female athletes to shine on a national stage. Despite the long-standing popularity of soccer in Canada, female players had no professional path to display their abilities until the establishment of the Northern Super League. The club hopes to inspire future generations of women across Nova Scotia and the Maritimes.

Halifax Tides FC also wants to create opportunities for young athletes in Nova Scotia to allow everyone to realize their potential. In addition to giving the club’s athletes a platform to showcase their talents to the entire nation, the Tides also want to foster an environment of community pride, spirit, and camaraderie by giving residents in Halifax and throughout Nova Scotia a place to come together on matchdays to build relationships and celebrate the sporting excellence of the Maritimes’ best women’s soccer players. Wagners looks forward to providing our firm’s resources, time, and support to the Tides’ mission.

Wagners’ Commitment to Community Involvement

Wagners has a proud tradition of community involvement in Halifax and throughout Atlantic Canada. We believe we should give back to the community we serve, which for so many years has trusted us to advocate for their rights and interests after life-altering accidents. Our firm actively participates in various community initiatives and charitable organizations. Our lawyers and staff volunteer time to events and organizations that make positive impacts on our community and the lives of our neighbors, especially those in need. At Wagners, we strive to create and spread a culture of compassion and empathy that makes our community a better place to live.

Some of our other community initiatives include:

  • Support for the Halifax Wanderers FC’s Football 4 All matches, which supports inclusivity efforts to get more people involved in sports and athletic activities, including by gathering donations of gently used sports equipment
  • Participating in annual park cleanups around Halifax for Earth Day
  • Collaborating with The Inspire Gala, a fundraiser for the Special Olympics
