Youth Organizer and School Employee Charged With Sexual Assault of a Minor

Ryan Rutledge with the non-profit organization Community Connexions Network has been charged with sexual assault of a minor. A youth on May 30, 2022 made a complaint against Rutledge regarding a sexual incident that occurred in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. the RCMP subsequently charged him with sexual assault, sexual interference, and invitation of sexual touching.

The 28-year-old man accused, co-founded the Community Connexions Network Nova Scotia in 2018. The non-profit organizes and hosts before-and-after school and summer programs for children with field trips and activities. Rutledge performed the role of Volunteer Co-CEO and led a group of 12 to 14 staff members. Community Connexions Network has since severed all ties with Rutledge.

Additionally, Rutledge also was a non-teaching employee at Colonel John Stuart Elementary in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.  Rutledge has been placed on leave by the Halifax Regional Centre for Education.

At this time there are no police investigations related directly to Connexions. For many parents, this means having very difficult conversations with their children as they do not fully understand the situation.

Rutlege has since been released on conditions.(1)
