A Nova Scotia Power truck was involved in an accident that killed a Hants County man on Jan. 29. The fatal truck accident took place along Highway 101 at around 10 a.m. and involved five cars. In addition to the fatality, four people suffered from injuries in the multi-vehicle crash.
According to police, the 23-year-old man who died in the accident was pinned between a power truck driven by a 56-year-old Dartmouth man and a cube van driven by a 50-year-old Kings County man. An unoccupied Volkswagen that the utility truck was towing was also involved in the accident, when it struck a Hyundai Accent driven by a 43-year-old Kings County man.>The driver of the Accent, the driver of the power truck, the driver of the cube van and his female passenger all suffered from minor injuries. They were treated by paramedics and then released. An investigation was launched into the factors that led to the collision, and the eastbound lanes of the highway were shut down. According to reports, road conditions and a vehicle fire made efforts to clear the wreckage particularly difficult.
A person who has been injured in a multi-vehicle accident similar to this one might want to get in contact with a lawyer soon after the crash. A lawyer may be able to help the victim to claim financial compensation for the full extent of his or her injuries. In many cases, car accident victims are unaware that certain injuries may affect their lives for months or years to come. A lawyer may be able to help the victim gather evidence about the long-term financial impact of the injuries so that he or she can claim an appropriate award for damages. Similarly, those who have lost a family member in such an accident could pursue comparable compensation, including lost financial support and funeral costs.
