Hard Landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport – Wagners Investigating

HALIFAX, NS – At approximately 9:30 p.m. on December 28, 2024, Air Canada Flight 2259, operated by PAL Airlines, experienced a hard landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport while arriving from St. John’s. The aircraft skidded down the runway, with reports of fire and smoke visible on the left side.

The flight carried 73 passengers and crew, all of whom were evacuated and transported from the runway by bus. Emergency responders, including Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency and the Nova Scotia RCMP, were on site. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed investigators to examine the circumstances surrounding the suspected landing gear issue.

The airport reopened one of its runways after approximately 90 minutes, though several flights were diverted or delayed during the closure.

Wagners is currently investigating this matter. We have experience representing passengers affected by aviation incidents, including our representation of those impacted by the AC624 crash landing at Halifax Stanfield in 2015.
