Canada-wide Settlement in the Organigram Class Action Regarding Recalled Medical Cannabis that was Tainted with Unauthorized Pesticides

On Friday June 24, 2022, a proposed settlement of the Organigram Class Action pertaining to recalls of medical cannabis that took place in December 2016 and January 2017 was announced.

The proposed settlement applies to all persons and entities who purchased from Organigram medical cannabis that has been the subject of a voluntary or involuntary recall on or before February 14, 2019. The certified action alleges that Class Members did not receive the product they had bargained for, and that Class Members should therefore be provided with a return of the purchase price.

The Defendants have agreed to pay up to a total of $2,310,000 CDN. For the proposed settlement to become effective, it must be approved by the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia. The approval hearing is scheduled for August 31, 2022, at 9:30 am AST and will take place at the Halifax Law Courts.
