Denial of Business Interruption Insurance Due to COVID-19

Wagners is investigating possible claims arising out of the denial of business interruption insurance related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result of the pandemic, the provinces and local governments have mandated that non-essential businesses close. Usually, business interruption insurance covers clients with cash payouts when events such as natural disasters or physical damage force businesses to close. Most owners and operators of all non-essential businesses have paid their business interruption insurance premiums, but many are now finding that their claims are being denied, even though they have been forced to close as a result of the pandemic.

Business insurance policyholders may have valid claims for losses related to the Coronavirus pandemic if their policy’s declaration page for coverage contains language such as: Business Interruption, Business Disruption, Contingent Business Interruption, Civil Authority, Government-ordered closure, Lost or Restricted Access, Loss of Ingress / Egress, All Risk, Open Perils, or Special Perils.

Wagners is monitoring this situation and invites anyone impacted by a denial of their business interruption insurance, or comparable coverage, to contact Wagners at 902-425-7330 or 1-800-465-8794 or by clicking here to discuss the circumstances of the denial of their insurance claim and to determine if compensation may be obtainable as a result.

Please do not hesitate to contact us by email at [email protected] or call toll free at 1-800-465-8794 for more information. All communications with Wagners will be kept confidential.
