Stop Signs and Crosswalks are Coming to a Stretch of a Halifax Street Due to High Volume of Motor Vehicle Collisions

Since 2015 Halifax residents have been advocating for safety changes to the intersection of Robie Street and Stanley Street. There have been numerous car accidents in this area, and the municipality has started the process to implement measures on the section of Robie Street and north of Stairs Street to address the ongoing safety issues.

There will be an all-way stop at the intersection of Robie Street and Stairs Street and at the intersection of Robie and Columbus Street. This will mean that there will be new stop signs and painted stop bars and crosswalks at each intersection.

City staff will also be considering ways to implement traffic calming measures for the area. There is no timeline for installation of these measures.
