This May, Wagners Law Firm celebrates its 40th anniversary of providing quality legal services and advocating on behalf of injured plaintiffs across the Atlantic Provinces and Canada.
Raymond Wagner, the founder and principal of Wagners, started the firm in May of 1982, practicing in the areas of civil and criminal litigation and property law. By 1986, his legal practice focused exclusively on personal injury law, and he began to expand his team, opening Wagners’ first office in Dartmouth, NS. Wagners moved to Historic Properties on the Halifax Waterfront in 1988 and has been at this location since.
Since opening its doors, Wagners represented approximately 13,000 individuals with their personal injury claims. Wagners has recruited top legal talent to continue expansion of the firm, which now has 12 lawyers and 16 paralegals and support staff who work in the Motor Vehicle Accident, Medical Negligence and Class Action departments of the firm.
In January of 2022, Wagners appointed five new partners: Lisa Wagner, Lyndsay Jardine, Loreatha Boehner, Madeleine Carter and Kate Boyle. Together, this group of accomplished and devoted advocates have represented Wagners at nearly every level of court across the Atlantic Provinces, and have also appeared in courts across Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada.
With its team of experienced and passionate lawyers and staff, Wagners remains dedicated to providing high quality legal representation, achieving timely and equitable settlements for its clients, and advancing the law on behalf of injured plaintiffs who otherwise would have limited access to justice. In its 40th year, the firm now provides legal services in various areas of law, including slip and falls, motor vehicle accidents, long term disability, fatal accidents, medical malpractice, birth trauma, and sexual assault. Its class action practice involves pharmaceutical and product liability, sexual misconduct and discrimination, institutional abuse, privacy breaches, aviation accidents, the COVID-19 response in long-term care, and environmental catastrophes.
Wagners was nominated as one of five finalists for “Trial Lawyer of the Year” by Public Justice across North America, and has received various legal awards, including Top Personal Injury Firm in Atlantic Canada for a number of years and the Lorne O. Clarke the Access to Justice Award by Public Legal Education Society. The Wagners team has also litigated many notable cases, including in the infant birth trauma and medical negligence spheres, the Westray mine disaster, the NS Home for Coloured Children class action, the Canadian Armed Forces Sexual Misconduct class action, to name a few. In 2021, Mr. Wagner was internationally recognized for his work as a passionate advocate and trial lawyer with his induction as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
The past four decades have cemented Wagners’ reputation for industry leadership in trial advocacy, access to justice and excellent client service. This is the foundation the team at Wagners stands upon today as we work to build a future deserving of our past.
