The East Hants District Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have charged Colin Wilson, a 35-year-old resident of Lantz, Nova Scotia, with serious sexual offenses involving a student. The charges stem from allegations made against Wilson, an intervention teacher, who was employed as an intervention teacher within the Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education (CCRCE). Wilson has worked at various CCRCE schools.
On June 3, 2024, the RCMP received a report of inappropriate contact between Wilson and a student at Uniacke District School. Following this report, officers launched an investigation which revealed that, in December 2023, Wilson had, allegedly, inappropriately touched the student on multiple occasions. The CCRCE placed Wilson on administrative leave in May 2024, when concerns were first raised.
On August 5, 2024, RCMP officers arrested Wilson. He faces charges of sexual interference and sexual exploitation of a young person. Wilson was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on October 7, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
